Apperley Bridge Studio is a purpose built recording and mixing facility. Located in Greengates, Bradford, a 15 minute walk from Apperley Bridge train station which in turn is only a 12 minute train ride from central Leeds.

It was built in 2017 to provide a quiet, peaceful place to work and is 5 minutes walk from beautiful Calverley Wood while also being a similar distance from a Costa Cofee, several award winning restaurants, bars and various shops. It's far enough out of town for peace and quiet but with enough facilities should you need them.

Many of the artists in our portfolio have recorded and been mixed here. We often host singer songwriters, pop artists, worship leaders and bands. We also work alongside churches and bands making live albums, helping organise the live location recording, and handling post production and mixing at the studio.

The studio houses a baby grand piano, always mic'd up and ready to record, alongside a range of guitars, amps from Vox and Fender, a healthy selection of pedals and a (literal) bucket of percussion.

Pro Tools is the software of choice, alongside Ableton, Reason and more software plugins and instruments than we know what to do with. We Use Focusrite and RME interfaces and mic pres with a well specced Mac Pro and enough quality  microphones from SE, Sure, Slate Digital, Lauten Audio and others to handle pretty much anything.

I've been pretty much obsessed with playing, writing and recording music since the age of about 11. At 15 I joined my first band, we talked our way into playing our debut at Sheffield Leadmill and I haven't looked back since.

In the 20 ish years since then, I've had the joy of working with bands, singer songwriters, choirs, orchestras, churches, youth groups, brass bands and more creating a world of different sounds.

I've been working full time in studios for about 12 years and have been mixing live front of house for tours and events for around 10. I spent several years working alongside Julian Kindred (Ellie Goulding, Hammock, Lauren Aquilina) on studio pop projects and Sam Gibson (Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Rend Collective) on Christian live/studio records.

I've had an incredible time travelling around Europe working with some great artists in great studios, picking up ideas along the way, and in 2017 I sat down with architect and studio designer Geoff Collins to begin Apperley Bridge Studio. It's been quite the journey bringing it into the world (just ask Jacob about the drains, we learnt a lot) but now it's here I wouldn't be without it.

Apperley Bridge Studio is ideal for writing, recording and mixing, and its location allows me to spend more time with my wife and kids.

I grew up with a love of music and started my musical journey learning bass and acoustic guitar. It was through a curiosity of how sound was put together, that I delved into the world of audio production.

In my time as an engineer, I have had the privileged to produce, record and mix records for established artists such as Matt Hooper (GMA Dove Award Winner 2016, LIFE Worship) and Chelsea Alice Scott (Support act to Rebecca Ferguson) as well as for upcoming artists and bands like Northern Comfort, Wirebird and Sam Ashton.

Music has been pivotal in navigating my own circumstances so I understand artists go through a journey during the creative process and it’s a priority for me to support them in exceeding their original vision.

Industry greats such as Andrew Schepps and Silvia Massey have inspired me over the years to hone my craft. It was always a dream of mine to meet Andrew and after playing him some of my music it was such a boost to hear what he had to say about my work.

Having worked alongside Luke since 2014, it’s been great to finally join the team at Apperley Bridge Studio!
